Terms of Use
Last updated: April 13, 2026
Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using the Maika'i Health Wayfinder ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service. These terms apply to all users, including members of the public searching for services and healthcare providers who register a listing.
About the Service
Wayfinder is a free, publicly accessible directory designed to help people on the Big Island of Hawai'i locate recovery support services. The Service also includes:
- A community events calendar for free, publicly accessible events submitted by registered partner organizations
- NARCAN dispensing machine and medication disposal site locators
- A contact form allowing members of the public to send anonymous inquiries directly to registered providers
- Anonymous outcome tracking to help us understand whether people are finding the resources they need
- A language selector allowing the interface to be displayed in multiple languages
The Service is operated by Maika'i Health.
Not Medical Advice
The information provided through Wayfinder is for informational and referral purposes only. It does not constitute medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Always consult a qualified healthcare provider before making decisions about your care.
Maika'i Health does not endorse, recommend, or guarantee any specific provider, treatment, or outcome. Inclusion in the directory does not imply certification, licensure verification, or quality assurance by Maika'i Health.
Accuracy of Information
Provider listings are submitted by the providers themselves and reviewed by Maika'i Health administrators before publication. While we make reasonable efforts to verify and maintain accurate information, we cannot guarantee that all listings are current, complete, or accurate at the time of access.
If you believe a listing contains incorrect information, please use the "Suggest a Correction" feature.
Crisis Resources
Wayfinder is not a crisis service. If you or someone you know is experiencing a medical emergency or mental health crisis, please call 911 or the SAMHSA National Helpline at 1-800-662-4357 (free, confidential, 24/7).
Provider Listings and the Partner Portal
Providers who register a listing through the Wayfinder Partner Portal agree to the following:
- Accuracy: All information submitted must be truthful, current, and accurate. Providers are responsible for keeping their listings up to date.
- Eligibility: Listings must represent legitimate, operating recovery support services located on or serving the Big Island of Hawaiʻi.
- Review process: All new registrations are subject to review and approval by Maikaʻi Health administrators. Submission does not guarantee publication.
- Ongoing compliance: Maikaʻi Health reserves the right to remove or suspend any listing that contains inaccurate information, violates these terms, or no longer meets the Service’s criteria.
- No fee: Registration and listing on Wayfinder is provided at no cost.
- Community events: Events must be free to attend, open to the general public, and focused on health, recovery, wellness, or community support. Events must not be primarily intended to promote or sell a commercial product or service. Maikaʻi Health reserves the right to deny or remove any event that does not meet these standards.
- File uploads: Partners may upload images and flyers. Uploaded files must not contain unlawful, offensive, or misleading content. By uploading materials, partners grant Maikaʻi Health a non-exclusive license to display those materials within the Service.
- Messages from the public: Partners who receive inquiries through the contact form agree to handle those inquiries responsibly. Contact information shared by community members must be used solely to respond to the specific inquiry and must not be used for unsolicited outreach or marketing.
Admin Portal Access
The Wayfinder Admin Portal is a restricted area accessible only to authorized Maika'i Health staff. Access is governed by the following:
- Role-based access: Admin team members are assigned a role of Admin or Staff. Staff members may manage waypoints, review submissions, and view the team directory. Admin members have full access including team management and system settings.
- Account security: Admin accounts are protected by email and password authentication. Account holders are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of their credentials.
- Authorized use only: Admin Portal access is granted solely for the purpose of operating the Wayfinder Service. Unauthorized access or misuse may result in immediate account termination and legal action.
- Profile information: Admin team members may optionally provide a job title, bio, phone number, and profile photo. This information is visible only to other admin team members within the portal.
- Message visibility: Authorized admin team members may view messages sent through the contact form for quality assurance and service oversight purposes.
Contact Form and Warm Referrals
Wayfinder includes an optional contact form on provider listings that allows members of the public to send a message to a provider without making a phone call:
- Providing your name and contact information is entirely optional. You may submit a message anonymously.
- If you provide a phone number or email address, that information will be shared with the provider you are contacting and will not be stored by Maika'i Health beyond 30 days.
- Messages are not monitored in real time. For urgent needs, please call the provider directly or dial 911.
- Do not include sensitive health information, personal identification numbers, or financial information in your message.
- Maika'i Health does not guarantee a response from any provider.
Anonymous Outcome Tracking
After using features such as "Get Directions" or "Call," you may see a brief prompt asking whether you found what you were looking for. Responding is entirely optional. Responses are recorded anonymously — we cannot identify you — and are used solely to improve the directory and report on the impact of the Service.
Language Selection
Wayfinder offers an interface language selector. When you select a language, your preference is saved in your browser's local storage so it persists across visits. Translations apply to the user interface only — provider names, addresses, and descriptions remain in the language in which they were submitted. Maika'i Health does not guarantee the accuracy of translations for Chuukese, Marshallese, and Hawaiian, which are pending community review.
